XLCD not working

Even before fitting the LCD to the XBox, I tried out my XLCD and it doesn't appear to be working. I contected the cable from the XLCD to the X3, enabled the LCD in the X3 bios (in XBMC as well) and I get nothing, no backlight or text. The Xbox (1.6) boots the installed bios(es) fine and I can start XBMX and play games fine so I'm fairly sure the X3 is working fine. Any suggestions? (I'm hoping I just missed a wire or something, oh and I did play with the contract dial as well). Did I miss something? Any voltage points to test?

TIA

NM--Working (Re: XLCD not working)

Looks like maybe it needed to warm-up (it's cold where I am)....after being plugged in/on for about 3 minutes it turned on and appears to be working.

Hope this helps some other impatient fool :)

Ok so I flashed my Hitachi (I think) Now What?

Using Slax and cross wire trick method. I was able to flash my 47d using a 360hq tutorial.

So now what? how do I back up a game? The tutorial stopped once the drive was flashed. When I try and play a regular 360 game it says "Please place the disk in a 360 console" so I know the firmware has been changed on my hitachi

software i used was maxiums Firmware Toolbox.

Why will it not play a regular 360 game? will it only play backups?

if its saying put in a 360 console then you haven't flashed the key into the firmware and that console will not play any game

Well now that I have flashed it somewhat, windows will not recognise it.

I can get jungle flasher to see it, but anything i try fails.

Is it bricked? or is there another method i need to try?

does the drive still eject? if it does then you have not bricked it you just need to flash it again with the o/fw,use j/f

Re: Ok so I flashed my Hitachi (I think) Now What?

Open up your Original firmware that you dumped from the drive in JungleFlasher.

If the key shows a bunch of random letters and numbers then you have a good key. If shows a bunch of '7's or '0's or any constant character then you have a bad key, in which case it is already to late and your console is useless. (unless you Jtag it and retrieve the dvd key)

Re: Ok so I flashed my Hitachi (I think) Now What?

yeah it has a good key, i flashed a second hitachi and it worked, but the lens in this 2nd drive was bad so i swapped boards out of the drives and my flashed drive will now play a game, i am burning a backup now to see if it will play it.

word of advice, do not use maxiums. just use jungleflasher!

I prefer firmware toolbox to doing hitachi's sometimes as JF wont let you do each instruction separately it will only do the read/erase/write in the once 'batch'. Correct me if i'm wrong.

ok - you're wrong!

There are options to do things individually (IF you know what you're doing)

However Hitachi's are so easily bricked that JF removes the chance of stupid mistakes by automating as much as possible!

Re: Ok so I flashed my Hitachi (I think) Now What?

How do you do it then?

Sometimes I just want to skip straight to the flashing part with firmware that I have prepped at an earlier time, although only option I see from JF is too dump firmware from the driver, spoof it, and then flash it all in the one op.
