I installed the XLCD, but I have one problem. The screen will not display any letters. The screen simply lights up with no words. Anyone know what the proble may be. Or should I return the product and declare it is defective?

Yeah there is a little wheel on the x3. Adjust that untill the words show up. There is also an adjustment in the X3config screen.

I adjusted the contrast and it is still not working properly. As I adjust the contrast, I see the blocks getting darker. They do not make any letter though. The full block is shadded. Any help would be great.

i would put the contrast on something right under where the blocks go away and then see if it will display anything with XBMC make sure you setup XBMC for use with the x3 and lcd. Other than that I don't know what to tell u but make sure ur cables are in good and there is no slices in it. Try using bios 1957 also, you might get lucky. Good luck.

Presume you have enabled the LCD in X3CL and tried adjusting the settings there also?

Yes, I cut a hole in the case and used sand papper to make the lines distict. The only problem I see in the mounting is the interior room. The front of the screen extends beyon the xbox case. It looks excelent from the front though.

Some people will say wait for the new front panel. But, I think it is going to cost like $100.00, and I am not willing to pay for a hole in my xbox. Either way, the xbox will look good.

Sorry Hunson,

I did not see your entry. But I have enabled the LCD through Config Live. But the only setting I see there is brightness and the display words. If there are more options, please let me know. Thanks for any reply from anyone.

Well, if you have turned the contrast all the way up on the chip itself, and went into x3config and turned it on and also turned up the brightness...then....Hmm.

Do you get any text when you boot straight into the bios? Also make sure nothing is pressing hard against the back.

Yeah there is only a brightness control in X3CL, wrote that previous reply at work when I thought there was more adjustments there. Had a look last night at home, haven't played with the LCD stuff yet, waiting for the control panel to come out :)

Nope, All I get is blocks. Do you think that I could have pressed the back of the LCD before and that messed it up for good? This sucks because system mods will not call me back or contact me through e-mail. Tomorrow is the 7 day mark where they will not exchange. I guess it will be a cool light. THAT SUCKS.

Thanks all, and let me know if you think of anything else.

Well if you have tried all of those settings then I am not sure what else to tell you. I know that if something is pressing on the back of it hard enough it will give you an almost faded look. Sorry I couldnt help.

I know this may be kind of obvious but did you short the XLCD on the shielding in the front of the case?

I dont think so. But if I did, do you think that would make just the letters not show up? Because it still lights up.

If it was shorted then it most likely would not light upat all. I would think that if it lights up and everything but you dont have any letters then maybe one of the connectors either isnt plugged in properly or isnt plugged in all the way. I know you have probably checked that but I would check again!! LCDs normally do not malfunction like that.

Did you find a resolution to this yet? I'm having the exact same problem. Just installed the X3LCD yesterday. When I enable it in the X3 Config the screen lights up but I get no letters. The contrast knob on the modchip doesn't appear to do anything at all.
