Xtreme 1.2 quiet or fast?

Just about to flash my xbox could anyone tell me what the difference is between xtreme 1.2 quiet and fast ?

When using Quiet online it seems to make the games load to slow but quiet infact should extend the life the of the Dvd Drive by not overworking the motor and laser.

Fast being just the opposite but dont know for sure if it increases the death of the drive or just uses the drive like it was out of the OEM Spec's.
