hey guys,
im trying to reflash my ms25 with 5.2c.
now ive lost my orig.bin, super stupid i know! :x

anyway, all the floppies im making with xtreme boot maker dont work. im using textbooks tutorial, like i did before, and all i get upon booting is a dos blinking cursos thing. it wont let me type anything and appears to read from floppy, but isnt actually. it just stays idle for ages!!!! i tried formatting etc, but no joy.

my pc doesnt have a bios setting to boot from usb, so i figured id try the other option, which is to use my c drive (which is actually a raid 2x250gb hd's).
so i burnt the ntfs4dos to cdrw. it takes ages to load on boot and gives me loads of errors, and says something like assuming 63.

eventually, it loads. i type yes and it shows me the cdr as drive as D and my c drive as E.
however, at the bottom, where i put in the dos command it has A:\. i try to enter E:\ by itself and with loads of other combinations, but nothing seems to work!
i thought i needed to enter something like
E:\ cd XBF
but that doesnt work.

can anyone help me with this one please?

in fact, ill give you an offer you cant refuse, anyone that can help me, gets a FREE SMILEY!!!!!!! :D

how can you say no?!!!!!

thanks guys.

tried typing D. no luck.

can i ask for idiot proof instructions, ie. what exactly is the command you reckon i should type in please?

either that, or any ideas why suddenly the floppy method doesnt work?

it used to boot up, say starting windows 98 and get straight into flashing.
i cant think why it doesnt do that anymore.
im using brand new floppies but just get a blinking cursor in dos, which doesnt allow me to enter anything.

is there anything i can do?

thanks for the help so far.

Skip the cdx bf .Just type in the E: or D: what ever the case may be then Xread.
When i did mine I had the same problem.I took all the files out of the xtreme boot maker folder that it created put in c drive, after i booted to dos using the cd. I changed A: to C: then typed C: xread, then it worked .

Well it depends on what version Xtreme Boot Maker he is using. If he is using 3.6, the files will be in an XBF folder and the commands are samread / samhack. If he is using 5.3, the files will be in an XTREME folder and the commands are xRead and xFlash.

ok think ive figured out the problem.

it appears as though my bios wont allow me to boot from usb, if theres a way around this please let me know! i have a sony vaio ra304.

so ive been using floppy to boot into xtreme boot maker.

now, i havent used the program in about 3 months. however, creating the bootable floppy is still the same process.

now ive tried everything, new floppies, the whole lot. but nothing seems to work!
all of a sudden my pc wont boot from the floppy.

when it boots (with floppy inside) i get a blinking dos cursor, but it wont let me enter anything!
the floppy light is on, but its not reading. ive left it alone for 20mins and nothing happens.

i also burnt the info to cd, and same result.

so i think ive isolated the problem, to my pc not booting bootable media.
its not xbm.

ive set floppy to boot before hdd, but for some reason it wont boot it properly, just stays idle.

does anyone know what the problem might be and how i can fix it?

thanks alot guys.

Did You try the NFTS4DOS CD?That is the only way ive gotton it to work..On the nfts cd you will not write any files to it.your files are on your other Drive wether it being usb, floppy,or your pc hard drive.

yeah i tried it, but it doesnt seem to work.
i think maybe because of got a raid drive.
plus, on some attempts, i get some weird screens asking me for info i dont have.
like it asks me to press 123 or 4 to continue..... wtf?! lol!

i know for a fact the floppy way works on my pc, ive flashed around 9 samsung drives with it. but all of a sudden, it doesnt!
