I am in a real state of brain pain please can anyone help on these subjects...

1. I am trying to use the xtreme bootmaker vo.3.6 to format and make bootable my flash drive pen which I have done as follows...

first I selected the firmware 1.2 for my samsung/toshiba ms28 drive (this has been in the past flashed) by some other person so I select that firmware - then I do not ask for the updates and it is then put into the software tool

2. I then tick the box use custem mtk flash

3. then I choose my via card vt6421 and it is detected

then I select my target drive and tick the box format and make bootable

4. then I hit the prepare drive

5. once that is done I then went to the samread icon and edit from the letter (m) as follows m / sata and I edited the same on the samhack

6. then I rig up the 360 to my pc and boot up from my flash drive pen then when the dos screen appears I turn on the 360 then I trpe samread 1234567 12345 and hit enter

7. I then see 2 drives and xtreme something is seen as number 3, so I turn off the 360 and each time I went on to try choosing each drive going through the proccess 3 times and no via card was seen in the DOS screen ! and the entry of the key E.G 1234567 12345 was not detected and I tried the serial key I noted from when I turned on my 360 and went into system information prior to flashing because the case is the chrome one and has no serial key on the outside and that was not detected also and I do believe that I have a problem trying to read the drive key and I also don't have a clue what software to use and how to use it to read the flashed drive key as well as any mistake I may well have done with the above proccess and after waiting for the 10 seconds after choosing a drive from the numbers 1-3 and turning on the 360 after that proccess the software (states no original bin file detected an also states aborting)

can anyone help me please I am a full on noobian and this is my first time and I am desprate to get rid of my flashing virginaty - please help

"I then see 2 drives and xtreme something is seen as number 3"

You are supposed to see 'Xtreme something', that is the PCI card. It's not going to say VIA Chipset or anything so the card is being detected fine. I also don't think not having the original serial number matters, as long as you use the same one for both SAMREAD and SAMHACK it should be ok.

When you type SAMREAD 1234567 12345 you said you do see the PCI card (Xtreme) so then you turn off the 360 and select it. Wait 10 seconds and turn the 360 back on and it should start to read firmware. You can try variations of time, maybe as low as 3 seconds or as high as 30 seconds. And I'm also not sure if you needed to go in and edit SAMREAD and SAMHACK as you said you did, maybe you should start over and not edit any files on your own.

Re: xtreme bootmaker / via card no dection in DOS / others..

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE - rsb101 - I will re-do the flash drive pen but this time I will not edit the samread & samhack files - I became confused about why when I was in DOS was it not showing the via card name as I'd seen when I watched the video of a Lad flashing the tosh/samsung drive when his pc booted into DOS it showed the name of the same via card I have yet mine was showing that as afore mentioned it displayed xtreme ..... if you see my point so later I will try to shorten the time of when to turn on the 360 or lengthen the delay - ps do you know what software I need to read the key just in case ? and dose something called firmguard mean anything to you ? - once again thank you for your help (much respected)

If SAMREAD goes through properly then you should have a file named orig.bin afterwards and thats your firmware thats currently on the 360. Now as far as your key goes, Samtool is the program you can use within Windows that will take the key from your original firmware and insert it into your desired hacked firmware. Heres the link from when I originally got help for my MS28:

http://www.360mods.net/Forums/viewtopic/t=1438.html

Read where Caster tells me about Samtool, do the same thing and it should work for you. After Samtool creates your hacked.bin you can go back into DOS and do SAMHACK and it should be fine. And Firmguard is something built into the hacked firmwares that doesn't allow the reading or writing of firmware after the flash. The 10 second trick is what allows you to circumvent that protection, that or the enable0800 disc.
