ok so i bought a box off ebay xenon kernel 6717, the seller said it needed the alternative qsb for e79 kit, i do all my jtags with the boxxdr method.

gets it in the post opens it up and someone has had a right go at with god knows what wattage soldering iron, the only jtag points still useable were j2d2 - 2 and j1f1 - 3 and 4 seeing as i was going to need to use the alternative points i thought id ditch the transistor method and use the conventional diodes 1n4148 (or whatever they were, used them before).

so i have done the alternative points as per xmods guide, installed the diodes etc install xell and get e79 tried xellous still e79, changed to the 3 resistor method same problem.

ive metered all the alternatives point, scraped traces with my fibreglass pen all good continuity.

if i flash original nand back it boots just fine, should it do this with jtag wires in place? i thought not, which would point to poor wiring, im no expert at soldering but ive done a few of these now without issues

i use jtag tool latest version to read and write nand and nand healer to check for exploitable kernel and bad blocks (none)

what else could i try, i know you have all heard it before but my soldering meters out fine, so im confused, ive already got a buyer for this console so need to get it done and shipped.

thanks
scott

Jtags will boot in normal dash even if the jtag wiring was connected, this is ancient history.

Try flashing xell manually using nandpro using >nandpro usb: -w16 xell.bin

right thanks for the input manually flahed xell still e79..........

so i think i made a simple error following the rebuild diagram here

ive only connected the original jtag holes to the adjacent resistors and not the points under the gpu heatsink , i had my thick head on yesterday! obviously thats also part of the jtag circuit, hmmm cant wait to have a got at those, when i get a decent camera ill take some shots

thanks
