Just to let the newbie now that x3ce does work with v1.6 if all soldering/pinheader/chip is install correctly. i successfully booted up to the bios screen with all the options to load from.
Both led on the chip lit up blue w/ switch turned to the left(red-unprotect).
External switch is 1. on 2. on 3. off 4. off and 5. off (flash protect).

I like to thanks all those who have helped me along the way. Please do the same for the rest of the folks that have problems. I know everyone here is nice enough. also, if there are anyone who gone past this far successfully please help me proceed further onto the next step. anyone is welcome to give advice/help thanks.
I am having a difficult time trying to get files from xbins is there someone that can help me with this. please.

finally, someone volunteer to help. ok first iam alittle confuse about flashing the bios. do i flash bios v3.0.1. i don't know what the latest version is for the x3 since it may have updated its version to different #s like 3.0.3.from the onscreen display, or do i get other files from xbins like evox and stuff. you can send me email if you like at [email protected].

I am new to all this stuff, so i am baby stepping through this. please be patience with me though. i'd would like the newest bios for my v1.6 x3. sorry if i sound stupid. modding is like second language to me. if it's too much for anyone, please give links, info...etc.etc.

Just so you know, one reason people don't volunteer to help too quickly is because all the information you're requesting is available in stickys. It frustrates people because it makes us feel like you aren't making effort, but you want us to.

Anything homebrew or any hacked bios is at XBINS. The reason you don't find it easily available is, there's some question of legality. How xbins gets around that, I don't know, but it's the place to go. You can read more about how to use xbins at:

This should tell you all you need to know. Anything we'd say would be repeating what you can read in the links.

yeah u guys are right, guessed i didn't really do my h/w. sorry about that man. just too excited to get my box to rox. anyway thanks martin and j0siah for those links. i'll try to be patience with this modding adventure. ok wish me luck, i am about to flash the 3.0.1 bios off the c: be back later when i get stuck. i hope my screen doesn't go black after. hmmmm.

no martin! i guessed i don't really know exactly what i'm doing now. i tried to load it from the hdd c:bios. but nothing happen. it just say no bios detected. sorry martin i am really lost right now. tried getting files from xbin and for some reason i can't even get any files to display on the right side of the screen. must be something wrong with my settings. yes i've read the Q&A. i am supposed to flashed the chip with a bios. an updated version right? like 3.0.1v16plus.

3.0.X is what is already on there and allows you to flash the actual BIOS that does everything

1959_v16plus the bios you need. Get it. Don't use anything else.

The only place you can get the bios from is XBINS so you'll have to figure out how to make that work from you. I guess if you knew someone, you could get it from them.......

The reason you can't get the bios file from the c: is because you haven't put it there. You'd need to d/l it there first, and quite honestly, you'd be making it harder for yourself.

DO MORE HOMEWORK.
Get the bios file.
Figure out how to http: the bios file to burn
THEN do it.

Ha ha ha. Hey that sounded alittle funny. U don't know the soreness in my eyes. i've got off work at 6 am. came straight home and started messing with this til now. Anyway i aprreciate your kindness to help out j0siah. i have done everything according to the xbin tut. link you've given me. still no files show up. maybe i've got banned from xbin 4 some unknown reason. ha ha ha that'd be funny. Ok back to reality, gotta get x3 bios 1959 v16plus.

Q: Ok - what am I supposed to flash to the chip?
A: A hacked BIOS. They are illegal which is why you won't find one on this site. Go to #xbins on EFNet and you'll see how to access the #xbins FTP Server.

Q: There are loads to choose from - which one is best for me?
A: Since you have an X3, flash the latest X3 BIOS if you have a 1.0-1.5 and the v16plus version of the latest BIOS if you have a 1.6/1.6b.

Please tell me which part of this you didn't understand and I'll rewrite it.

hey Martin i didn't mean to make it sound like it's your post. , honestly it is my fault. but since you asked here goes. for new ppl coming into the modding scenes they might just not understand what a bios is. i didn't take my time to read and understand the post. especially if one do not understand the terminology used. they kinda just cruise along and hopefully picked it up as they go. i've learned alot here today just browsing. still not great at it yet. i may have trouble understanding English and that's the result i get. do you ppl see now.
anyway i have no right to say what needs to be change or not, it's just fine how it is. i'm just a dumbazz. It's good to know that you guys allow some editing, that's excellent for this site. keep up the good work Martin. well back to work on bios.
