my zephyr runs fine but sometimes the dashboard resets! & all the settings need to be setup again / language / display etc.

I heard this is quite common .. is there any way to fix it??

thx

I take it as this is posted in the nand-x section that it is a jtagged console? Not heard of this before, got any more info about it?

yep, it's jtag'd
I used the nand-x .. running the latest freeboot - but the problem occured on 9199 freeboot also...
I have done several xenons & zyphyrs .. my install is good (neat & tidy) .. there where no bad blocks in the nand dumps either ;)

I would say every 5th or 6th time I boot it up it resets back to factory defaults!

thats proper strange!! What jtag wiring are you using? and does it do the resetttng with a original nand image?

this 1 is just the standard qsb & rol wiring ...

I havnt tried putting the back the original nand image yet because the problem is intermittent & the jtag does function properly with the exception of the reset to factory defaults!

I would do the alternative jtag points as its a much more stable method to use. I do all the jtags using the method and have had no complaints as of yet.

I would try the original nand image to try and rule out the nand, jtag wiring, or freeboot image.

yeah, use alternative wiring dbf1f and aud clamp, that will sort the reset problem

ok just had the time to do this .. havnt had a reset to factory defaults (yet / fingers crossed)

but...
sometimes the tray ejects when I power it up .. which boots into xell - I understand I can quickly close the tray & that should boot to dash - but is there another fix?

ok .. i read the link in more detail & I clearly see this at the bottom which I missed before ...

Also, it might happen that when you boot up your console, the DVD Tray will eject by itself because of the Jtag circuit using the current from OPEN_TRAY command to power itself. No need to worry about it. Just close the tray when you get to NXE. Believe me, the DVD Tray ejecting by itself sometimes is nothing as compared to bear with those E79 errors.
I can live with it ... but any further advice is of course welcome :p

use db1f1 instead of tray open.

oh, ok

so basicly solder the red wire back to it's original position...

will the freeboot nand image need to be modified again or will it just work if I switch the wire back ?

you will need to edit the smc for the new wiring configuration

yep, i did that with jtag tool with the alt smc points option but i'm assuming it is set for both the aud clamp & the tray open then ...

ok i'll look into the smc editing side of things in more detail
