Seems these zephyrs are troublesome to say the least just got one off a no video output elite, fixed the no video out

dumped the nand 3 times all matching flashed the board created the ecc flashed it over

coolrunner glitches away around every 5 seconds but nothing on screen and the ROL just sits there with it's green light.

tried alt points tried with a cap, with 2 caps and no cap not once has it booted to xell

anyone any suggestions or just give up like i've read many others have done?

Absolutely not, don't give up. You will never learn to fix things as they come up if you do that.

Does the console act like it is booting up but just doesn't show anything? or is it booting up with audio but not ouputting video?

i don't know if i've not explained it properly or you've misread

coolrunner glitches but the console doesn't boot to xell, the ring of light never does it's full circle just the solid green light on the RF board, coolrunner just continues to glitch can hear the fan speed up then back down after each glitch but the console wont boot to xell

What did you use to create the .ecc image? MultiBuilder? XeBuild?

What was the CB version of your NAND? Did you check that?

Just some questions so I can better help you diagnose the problem.

Well then it's time for the "go-to" thing to blame....soldering.

Check, Double check, and check one more time on your soldering.

Pull it off, make sure it's not touching anything else and that it's making a SOLID connection to the pads.

I hate being the one who says "check your soldering" .... but you'd be surprised how many people either have one TINY thing wrong that solves it or they just have A put where B goes and B where A goes...just something silly like that, but it makes the difference between working and not working.

May be worth a shot then, I'm not really a big guru on it, I only speak from personal experience.

I've only had consoles that did that, and when I switched the wiring around and re-done it, it worked for me.

Some Zephyrs won't glitch no matter what you try. At some point, it makes no sense to keep banging your head against a pile of bricks.

I'm never one to give up on anything without trying, but there's overwhelming evidence about non-glitching Zephyrs that it has be taken into consideration.

Thanks to seeing this thread it gave me an idea, I was given just a zephyr board with rrod, so without thinking i installed the coolrunner expecting to get the dvd key etc, when i tried to boot i got exaclty the same problem as you just the centre light on, so i now have just put my nand in 360 flash tool and it was on dash 12611 stupid mistake as i built the image for 14966, Ive flashed the orignal nand back and it now rrods, so it might be worth checking your nand and see what dash you were on.

So after you did the above fix, was the console working for a good period of time before you attempted the RGH? If you flash back the first 50 blocks, does it boot?

For the record, I've yet to have a Zephyr not glitch.

ye console booted fine was on 13599 i believe updated it to 14699 after the fix works fine

flashed the first 50 blocks back (erasing xell) console boots fine and runs fine.

so guessing it's just another stubborn zephyr, not going to install the CR again just time consuming for it still not to work

Good, where do you need a plane ticket from and you can come here to my house and fix the one and only one I cannot get to boot lol...

Stupid thing...they flashed a xenon NAND to it first of all...killed the NAND Chip

I put a donor Zephyr Nand onto it, made a .ecc image, and transplanted the NAND onto the mobo...and voila...Xell Reloaded!!! *Cheer!!*

...no

Get CPU key....doesn't help, don't have original NAND...so I make a ggbuild out of the donor NAND with that original CPU key....flash that NAND to it....

*Blink* ..... *Blink* ..... *Blink*...... nothing

Push eject button, Xell Reloaded boots, although it's very dark and hard to see for some reason :\

So yours works, which is fine.

You just need a correctly built donor NAND with LDV etc.

English Martin....English!

You may as well throw rocks at me when it comes to NAND and software stuff mate, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to all that.

I know enough to get me in trouble lol...

Reballing, board repairs, and things of that nature...I can go toe to toe with the best of them....Nands, LDV, CB, and all that other craziness in the software world... :O <---- Insert Gun Barrel here :rolleyes2:
