Zephyr issue

Hi! I've done 3 TX CR installs so far. 1 falcon, which always boots instantly. 1 JasperBB, which after adding the 68 nF cap boots always instantly, too.

However I ran into problems with a Zephyr. When the mobo is out of the box, it boots within 30 secs (not perfect, but OK considering it is a Zephyr), but when i put it back to the chassis and connect the DVD drive it gets much worse - if it doesn't boot on the first or second try (which is veeeeery rare) - it won't boot at all (not even after 5 minutes).

I avoided the coils with the wires and tried many tweaks I found here on the forums with no success. Played with wire placement - no difference. Even tried to add a twisted pair to cpu_rst (cpu_rst twisted with gnd) and in fact it made the success of glitching worse - even out of the chassis.

I want to somehow at least retain the 30- secs boot time while it is assembled (the CR + install would be a Christmas gift and it is almost Christmas - I'm running out of time).

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would go over all points again just to double and triple check they are making a strong connection. I did this with my jasper and it went from 15-40 secs to almost instant boot every time.

I have a zephyr that won't boot unless it's warm. Try power cycling a few times after it tries to glitch for 5-6 minutes. It also seems to do better when I turn it on with the controller

This one boots much better when it is cold, however the success rate is quite low even then. When it gets hot - when I let it try to glitch for a few minutes or gets just turned off after a successful glitch there is no chance in hell it will glitch again - I have to let it cool down and even unplug it to make it glitch again.
It wouldn't bother me if it would be the same when the mobo is outside of the chassis - I would accept it as it is. But it glitches much better that way. Still, I can't leave it disassembled...

No significant improvement, maybe a little bit better, but it is hard to tell. But it's not as good as outside of the chassis by far.

I have a zepher that does the same - if it doesn't boot first attempt then it wont at all. I just give it ten seconds and turn it off an on - and it always boots the second time.

It really is the same with this one! If it doesn't boot on first try, just restart. Great idea, you saved my day, thank you, pas7680!! Tried to boot it about 30 times - 10% of the time it boots on 1st try, 85% of the time it boots on second try. And the remaining 5% is tolerable... Thank you! Issue solved. My friend will be glad (or at least I hope so).
