Zephyr RGH troubleshooting

I know these consoles are notoriously bad for RGH'ing. But I have one and decided to give it a try, just wandering what I can try.

I have read my NAND fine, flashed my Coolrunner just fine, wrote the ecc just fine (made in 360 Multi Builder). I am just getting no boot, black screen, green light flashes every 5 seconds or so with the red staying on, I even tried the slim setting.

Also I have soldered it in twice (the second time with the wires provided in the CR).

What are some other tips and tricks that can be used on these, I know people have gotten them to boot. Is there a certain point on the board that I need to check? Any type of resistor/diode/etc that can be installed?

Please let me know.
Thanks

Here are the pics of my install/routes. Disregard the two small wires on the pic with the CR, they are for my NAND flasher.

juanbrnt, do you care to expand on that, I am not sure what you mean by that.

Also just to clear things up, and I just thought of this as well. But I saw where the Xenon RGH is just as bad, if not worse, but good for getting the CPU key, which obviously means you are booting into Xell, I can not boot into Xell.

Hi.
Try running the green and the blue wire just under where the screws are holding the heatsinks on at the fan side of the board.
I always put mine there and get boots first time every time

By under the screws i mean just next to the screw heads

tony, that is currently the wire that my CPU_RST is on, I did see this post: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83445 it has where Uber used an alternate point on the top of the board, but since he is using the shielded cable, I cannot see exactly which point he is using. Would you know which one that is?

I believe it is the top left one, but it is possible the bottom left one.

daftdog . I see your point as well what he means imagine the xclamps are there just next to screws but make sure not touching them at all i tend to go across board via fans on blue remember its a through point so you can solder topside its a zeph like xenons they have a mind of their own . also to note try changing coolrunners timings to falcon that also has helped out before

OK, flashed my CR to falcon, not working, back to Zeph, not working still, however now, it is not trying to glitch on the Slim setting.

Before I did this I checked my wires, and the green was touching a screw, I moved it off of it, it is in a better spot now, more like the one in the install diagram.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, this is a REV B CR

I noticed rev b it has cap point on . Thats for bb jaspers s the cr still blinking? and what the times? just had another thought solder your 3.3 to the left (inside) of cr away from all other wires as i said zephs are like a blind man on a firing range ......shot in the dark just reroute wiring about

Thanks for all of the help guys, I have been rerouting wires, reflashing the CR with Zephyr timing, and it is still a no go.

However, I was looking around today and I found some insulated wire (it is like the kind you would use for analog cable tv back in the day). So obviously it is not going to go underneath the board. But Uber has a pic with the CPU_RST on top of the board here: http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83445. Can someone tell me exactly what is being soldered to?

Thanks

I just did a RGH of a Zephyr last night and ran my wires similar to TilVl (I ran the green wire under the xclamps) and my glitches on the first pulse as well.

I think the Zephyrs are very sensitive to any interference.
Well the insulated cable on top of the board was a no go as well...

I rerouted mine very similar to it as well as best I can tell. I obviously do not have the X-Clamps anymore, so I am not sure how that will effect anything though. Tomorrow I believe I am going to try insulating all of the wires underneath the board with a few layers of electrical tape, hopefully that will reduce some of the interference. The more I try, the more I believe that I may have one of the Zephyrs that are just sol when it comes to RGH, I really hope that I am wrong.
