Xecuter Project Update – Demon, RGH2 etc

We figured we'd give you an update on the Demon as it has been going on for some time now.

Rest assured that our dev team along with several prominent members of the linux / homebrew community have been hard at work on this project to make sure that you get the best product possible that has been tested in every scenario and has the scope for many exciting add-ons.

We are currently on the third version of Demon build and a lot has changed under the hood since the first version that we showed you.

We believe the current build will be final and due to the changes the manufacturing time has been extended by 5-7 days – so we expect final prototypes to be shipped to testers on or before April 7th.

As soon as these prototypes are in hand and everything goes to plan, it will only take a few days for them to be signed off and full production begins – so not too long to wait now !

We hope you appreciate how hard we have worked on this particular project. When we first took it on we had no idea just how many variants and scenarios there were that interfered in the stability and performance, however we believe we have addressed every issue and are very excited to get this to market so you can enjoy yet another rock solid product from Xecuter.

You will see for sure what makes the Demon stand out from the rest. Remember we have no interest in running to be first, we are interested only in walking to be best.

RGH2 Update

As we reported before, the development of RGH2 has taken us on a totally new direction and is now unrecognizable to when we first started. Work is still on going but feel confident that the very best guys are working on this and we have designed new development hardware that has opened up new doors, and in turn a whole new set of challenges. This is a project that is very important to us as it will help create a totally new level of glitching and a new way of doing things for the homebrew community.

We will get flamed by the usual haters for saying this and that's fine if they have a valid argument, but of course they rarely do……………We will suggest that you ignore any new versions of glitch mods that are coming on to the market. They are simply re-hashed hardware that give you absolutely nothing new from what you already have. None of them seem to be developed with any real understanding of what the glitch really does under the hood – that's why you may see them saying "14719 support coming soon" but it will never be from them. You don't have to be a genius to know where all the new hacks will be coming from.

The cynics will think "of course Xecuter would say this as the other products are from competitors". We are not even saying you must buy the TX CoolRunner (although of course we feel it is the best available for the current RGH method) – you can buy several other glitch mods that are between $10-$15 that do the job for the current glitching method. Like we have always said, the original hack is a GLITCH HACK – that means it's not perfect. If you have the install done correctly then it will work – sometimes instant boot sometimes up to a minute – that's just the way the original hack works. More expensive hardware isn't going to change that so don't buy into it. The only way this is going to get better is by a completely new method – which is what RGH2 is all about.

Team Xecuter's Xenon Reset Glitch Hack

We are happy to finally release the Xenon RGH Hack. This is by no means meant to be used for an everyday RGH as its as bad if not worse than a Zephyr, however it does work and will be perfect for those who have a Xenon where they lost their DVD key or an unbanned key vault.

Here is the readme included with the release:

Wiring

Generate your ecc image using the latest version of J-Runner and flash to your NAND (+w16 just like a regular RGH).

Program your TX CoolRunner (or whatever flavor RGH mod you are using) with the tx-xenon.xsvf or tx-xenon.jed file.

The Xenon has a capacitor on CPU_RST that was removed in later models.  C7R112 (located near the xclamp under the CPU) must be de-soldered, and the CPU_RST wire from the TX CoolRunner(D) must be soldered to the left pad (non grounded pad).

A 47nf ( 0.047uf) capacitor needs to be added between PLL_BYPASS(+) and GND(-).  (If you have a genuine TX CoolRunner REV B you can use the on-board by bridging the CAP jumper)

A 220-270pf capacitor should be added between CPU_RST(+) and GND(-) on the cpld. (If you have a genuine TX CoolRunner REV B this is already included in the design so not required)

Troubleshooting

Using a TX CoolRunner Rev B, and after applying various troubleshooting measures we have had glitches ranging from instant to 20 minutes.

The debug LED should flash on for less than a second and repeat every 5 seconds.  If your LED stays on or does not come on at all, it is usually because of something being wrong with PLL_BYPASS.  Try different values of capacitors and wires. If you have enabled the CAP on REV B of the TX CoolRunner, simply un-bridge it and try a 47nF cap instead as per the instructions above.

If it still has not glitched after several hours, try different values of capacitors on CPU_RST of your RGH mod.  A longer wire / low-loss 50 ohm double shielded cable may also help with this.

To help increase boot times and stability (on all RGH installs not just Xenon) we recommend that you try Low-Loss Double Shielded 50 ohm cable. It's very cheap to use and quite effective – so a quick shout out to www.xconsoles.com who supplied a batch of high quality cable for our development team to use. It's less than 75 cents a foot – not bad.

NOTE: Remember when programming the TX CoolRunner that the Xbox power is NOT connected and that the switch is set to PRG before you connect the JTAG cable. If you connect the JTAG cable and it is set to NOR with the Xbox power connected, it can damage your NAND-X and/or CoolRunner. When you have finished programming, switch it back to NOR and then power on the Xbox.

The Xenon Hack

Please note that this hack is not available on consoles updated to dashboards 14717 or 14719.

If you are seeing the debug led it means that the cpu is probably not crashing and the issue addressed by gligli/tiros has been fixed (This can of course be a false positive as sometimes the CPU could be crashing but the SMC restarts fine – we can never be 100% sure)

So far, this is really only useful for a one time cpu_key dump. There will undoubtedly be ways of optimizing this hack in the future and who knows, it may become a reliable glitch one day.

We would appreciate that you give as much feedback to our support forums as possible to help others achieve better results and to improve this method. For now we can leave this and go back to RGH2.0 for Zephyr, Falcon, Jasper and also of course, the Corona.

Team Xecuter Presents RGH 2.0

The newly formed RGH Development Team at Xecuter HQ are proud to announce that all Phat consoles have now been defeated and are totally glitch-able without having a previous NAND dump or CPU KEY (the same applies to Slim Trinity that have been updated to 14717/14719) !

Codenamed RGH 2.0, new features introduced:

• Hack now works on new CB's (14717/14719 update)
• Hack now works with all Refurbished Split CB's (4577, 5772, 6752)
• – Zephyr CB 4577, 4575
• – Falcon/Opus CB 5772, 5773
• – Jasper CB 6752, 6753
• – Trinity (Slim) CB 9230

To confirm, we can now glitch Phats with any kernel and any bootloader. As soon as you have your CPU KEY, and you are using an Xecuter DemoN you will ALWAYS be able to switch to a fully hacked NAND and it can never be stopped no matter what update you apply and no matter which efuses are blown !

We will be helping the J-Runner team to implement all of the new code which will allow you to build a patched ecc for any Phat NAND / Kernel / Bootloader.

The Xenon RGH hack will also be released however the quality of glitching seems to be as poor as the infamous Zephyr. No doubt once its out there users can tweak away at it and get some better results, the feeling here is that it's time wasted at the moment when we should be working on Corona. Currently it's a "repair" method at best to rescue DVD keys.

This is a new style of RGH hack (hence RGH 2.0) and there will be a new JED file, changes to the CoolRunner design, changes to the QSB's and possibly new install methods (we'll also show you how to change your older version TX CoolRunner to be compatible with the new hack, and initial tests have shown that other cheaper versions of RGH hardware will not work at all).

Work on fine tuning the hack is currently ongoing to make it as solid as possible, however we hope to have everything ready asap.

Members of our team are also working hard on the new Slim Corona model and can tell you that great progress has made made there too. We'll just say that we feel bad for anyone who paid good money for any glitch mod that was advertised as being "Corona Ready".

J-Runner Coming Soon & More Xecuter DemoN details

J-Runner is an all new JTAG/RGH app has been in development for a number of weeks by members of Team Jungle & Team Xecuter.

Currently being hammered and tweaked by 30+ members of the teams, J-Runner will become the De facto choice for all JTAG/RGH modders much like Jungle Flasher has been for all Firmware enthusiasts.

Here is a screen shot of an earlier beta to give you an idea of what it will look like. We also slipped in a few official details of the Xecuter DemoN project.

In the meantime Xecuter has welcomed several new colleagues on to the team due to the current massive workload. Current projects include the 1175 fw, Xenon RGH, Corona RGH & 6752 CB along with several new hardware projects.

There will be many surprises in store over the next few weeks.

Fake Xecuter CoolRunners / Xecuter Unlocked DG-16D4S PCB Warning !

It has come to our attention that a small factory in China is making cheap, low quality copies of the hugely successful Xecuter CoolRunner & Xecuter Unlocked Replacement DG-16D4S PCB. They do say that imitation is the highest form of flattery, however these came through our retail channels due to a high number of faulty returns and there were attempts at having them replaced on the official Xecuter Warranty. Not only are they poor quality, but they are wholesaling them for the same cost at what we are wholesaling the genuine products to our wholesale network, so it’s pointless buying them in the first place.

If you are looking to buy genuine Xecuter products through wholesale channels then simply contact China Distribution and they will take care of you. If you are looking for genuine Xecuter retailers then they are listed on our Official Resellers Page. If you suspect that an official reseller has sold you a fake Xecuter product please get in touch with us immediately.

Remember that when you buy fake copies, even though you are paying the same price as the genuine product you will get no support, and no warranty. Here are some comparison photographs to see if you have a fake or genuine CoolRunner / Unlocked Replacement PCB.

With the CoolRunner you can see that half the components used are not the same brand as the original and the print quality is shoddy at best. They have also shaved off the corner dot on the main IC.

With the Unlocked Replacement DG-16D4S PCB there are far too many mistakes and errors to even know where to begin. Luckily its super easy to spot the fake.

• Support for topology data on AP25 enabled titles. Will correctly answer any ap25 challenge eliminating need for dae.bin to create a backup.
• No need to make new backups everytime dae.bin is updated on console

Topology Data

When ap25 was first introduced I devised a way of calculating any challenge which I called the silver bullet which I made reference to a long time ago.
This was withheld until it was absolutely necessary. It was easier to replay the fixed challenges.

With unique per console ap25 challenges it has become necessary to use the silver bullet.

A series of measurements are taken across the disk. This topology data is then used to calculate a response to any ap25 challenge.

It is very important that the drive used to create the topology data is reliable at reading discs as bad topology data equals bad ap25 responses.

Liteon drives using 0800 v3 seem to be more accurate for this purpose. Only ap25 enabled titles require topology data. Activation of ap25 on older non-ap25 games although technically possible is highly unlikely.

Currently topology data for xgd3 titles are similar and topology data from one xgd3 title will pass on another xgd3 title although this is not advisable.

Per title title topology data is best as there are slight differences between titles and newer titles could have different topology than existing ones.
